MovingWorlds Update: A new feature to help you find the perfect project

We’re always adding new features to improve the experience of both hosts and Experteers, and this month we unrolled a new way for paid members to reach out to organizations, making it easier for you to make a meaningful match. Do you ever see an opportunity for an organization that looks interesting, but is not the right skills match? Our new request feature lets our members request an introduction directly to an organization by suggesting the type of project that would be a good fit. This alerts the organization to you and your skills, and gives them the opportunity to message you back if they want to tell you about a skills-based project that does align with you.

You Can Request an Introduction in 5 Easy Steps:

Step 1 – Find an opportunity with an organization that looks interesting

Search screen
Browse through hundreds of opportunities directly on our site!

Browse for an opportunity using our easy-to-use filters. If an opportunity catches your eye, simply click to learn more.

Step 2 – Find the organization you want to learn more about

Organization Page
The organization page offers relevant information about each host organization MovingWorlds partners with.

After clicking on the Learn More button to access the Opportunity Details page, scroll down. On the right side of the page you will find the name and logo of the host organization offering the opportunity. Keep in mind you will need to be logged in with your MovingWorlds membership in order to see the organization’s information. Click on the organization page to learn more about their group and view all current opportunities with that one organization.

Viewing organization pages is a feature that comes with a paid membership. All our memberships come with the Experteering guarantee: if at anytime in the first two years of your membership you don’t love our service, you can ask for a full refund of your membership fee – no questions asked!

Step 3 – Browse other projects with the organization, or request an intro

Current opportunities
Scroll through the available opportunities posted by this host organization to see if there’s a good fit for you.

Scroll to the bottom of the organization page. Here you will find a list of all current opportunities this organization has posted with MovingWorlds. Here’s where this new feature comes in: simply click on the “Request an introduction” button at the bottom of the page to get a personalized introduction to the host organization.

Step 4 – Add a nice message

Request an introduction
Use this dialogue box to give the host organization a little information about you and why you’re reaching out.

To create the most meaningful connection, give us a little information about what you’re looking for. Explain why you’re interested, what skills you have to offer, and how you feel you can support this organization. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for the host organization to know whether they can use your skills in an impactful way.

Step 5 – Work with the MovingWorlds team to plan your trip!

From here, someone from MovingWorlds will send an email to the organization, introducing you, your interests, and your skills. If the organization responds with mutual interest, the MovingWorlds team will put you in touch so you can schedule an introductory call with the organization and discover more about opportunities they have, craft a new project together, or simply learn more about the work they’re doing. Requesting an introduction can be the first step to an exciting Experteering experience. Click here to learn more about the matching process and your next steps!

At MovingWorlds, we aim to empower you to give back, to build your skills, and, of course, to connect. We hope this feature lets you reach out to the organizations you’re passionate about and create meaningful connections. We love hearing from our Experteers, so let us know in the comments how you plan to use this new feature, what you love (or don’t love) about our site, and any other feedback you might have!
