How Do You Unleash Ideas?

Mark Horoszowski

Mark is the Co-founder of MovingWorlds.org, a global platform connecting people who want to volunteer their expertise with social impact organizations.

At MovingWorlds, we know a thing or two about making ideas happen.  We also really like some great books on the topic, like Unleashing the Ideavirus and Making Ideas Happen.

But we want to do more than just put our own ideas into action, we want to empower social enterprises and globally-minded professionals around the world to do the same… and we want to share what we learn with you.

Here are 4 imperatives to help you unleash the true power of your ideas:

Think Big

Don’t just think big about what your idea is, or what it will take to make it happen, think big about what your idea can do. Think about the people it can help around the world. Think about the people that need it, and that are relying on you to create it. Think about how the world will be a better place if you share your idea.

Embrace Innovation

It is a lot of work to turn ideas into reality –  common challenges include limited time, money, people, technology and any other number of resources. To overcome these hurdles, innovation is your best friend. Consider the work of  Henry T. Ford: He didn’t invent a cheaper car, he invented the assembly line to get affordable cars to the “everyman”.

Inspire Action

Mobilize people around your idea, and around your vision for what your idea can do. Think about Simon Sinek’s talk on how to Inspire Action: “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it“.

Make Things Happen

Enough with the talk. Do it. Beyond the joys of seeing your idea become a reality, please know this: the world needs your ideas, it needs your creativity,  and it needs you to take action.

Just imagine, what would this world be like if your idea became a reality?
