At Africa Agility, the mission is clear: empower young African women to thrive in the tech industry through mentorship, upskilling, and real-world experience.
But when it came to preparing mentees for the complex communication and product thinking challenges they’d face in the workplace, the team saw a gap—and turned to the MovingWorlds platform to fill it.
“We believed bringing in an Experteer would enrich the learning experience, boost mentee confidence, and expose them to the standards and mindsets expected in professional tech environments,” said Aanu Gopald, founder of Africa Agility. “Especially in areas like soft skills and product thinking, which are critical yet often underdeveloped.”
Elevating MentorH3R With Targeted Skills-Building
As part of their flagship MentorH3R program, Africa Agility partnered with a skilled professional Experteer from F5 to deliver two powerful virtual workshops: “Mastering Communication in Tech: Your Superpower for Growth,” and “Product Roadmap: Blueprint for Vision to Execution.”
These sessions were designed to be both interactive and practical—bridging the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations.
“The Experteer helped our mentees strengthen their ability to express ideas clearly, collaborate in teams, and advocate for themselves,” Aanu shared. “Then in the second session, they introduced a roadmap framework that helped mentees plan, prioritize, and execute their community impact projects.”
Both sessions reinforced Africa Agility’s core goals: career readiness, leadership development, and project execution.
A Seamless, Collaborative Match
From the beginning, the partnership just clicked.
“The process of finding and matching with our Experteer was smooth and exciting,” Aanu explained. “There was strong alignment in values, and they showed genuine enthusiasm for our mission.”
Planning was highly collaborative, and the Experteer worked closely with the Africa Agility team to ensure the sessions were tailored to mentees’ real-world needs.
“They were flexible, professional, and proactive. They really took the time to understand our audience and deliver something meaningful.”
Reframing “Soft” Skills as Core Skills
One of the most powerful insights? Realizing just how foundational communication is in tech.
“The Experteer brought a global lens,” Aanu reflected. “They helped us see that communication isn’t just a soft skill—it’s a superpower. It’s what makes effective product development, leadership, and collaboration possible.”
And when it came to building structure around big ideas, the Experteer’s product roadmap session was equally transformative:
“It reminded our mentees—and us—that vision without structure can stall progress. You need practical steps and accountability to succeed.”
Immediate, Measurable Impact
The results of the sessions were tangible right away. Mentees became more confident in articulating goals, leading discussions, and asking for support. Teams working on community projects built clearer timelines and deliverables. Mentors were able to guide more effectively.
“The Experteer elevated the entire mentorship experience,” Aanu said. “The quality of project outcomes improved. Participation increased. And it became easier to provide support. It really accelerated our program’s impact as a whole.”
A Model for the Future
Although the sessions were delivered to mentees, the impact extended to the Africa Agility team, too.
“We learned how powerful it can be to introduce these concepts early in the mentorship journey,” Aanu noted. “Their frameworks gave us a new model for delivering practical, high-impact learning experiences.”
Africa Agility now plans to integrate both workshops as recurring modules in future MentorH3R cohorts—and explore ways to replicate and scale them for broader reach.
“The Experteer’s contributions have become part of our standard for impactful programming. We’re committed to building on that foundation to reach even more young African women in tech.”
