AI & The Future of Work
According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023, the adoption of new and frontier technologies will continue to be a key driver of business transformation: more than 75% of companies intend to adopt big data, cloud computing, and AI in the next 5 years. To find out how social enterprises in our network are using AI, MovingWorlds conducted an analysis that uncovered four key ways AI is being applied to expand bottom-line and impact potential. Learn more about each here, along with guidance to help you start experimenting with AI at your enterprise.
Results-Based Funding
Unlike typical project-based funding, results-based funding is calculated on the basis of units (for example, the cost to provide one person with sanitation) similar to a commercial contract. As TRANSFORM shares in its latest insight paper, this approach can play a key role in helping organizations transition from grant-based business models to sustainable, income based business models. A great example of what that looks like in practice is this episode of the We Transform Lives podcast featuring the pioneering awards-for-recycling social enterprise WeCyclers.
Human-Centered Innovations in the Last-Mile
The new ‘Humanizing Energy’ series from BBC Storyworks and Global Distributors Collective sheds light on the human side of last-mile delivery — like this video about Powerlive Zimbabwe, which has built a network of women sales agents that distribute off-grid solar products in remote Zimbabwean communities. Similarly, Acumen has spent more than two decades and over $37.5 million to deliver tailored last-mile solutions for smallholder farmers — learn more about the insights that shape their approach here.
