If you’re inspired by what you’ve learned so far and ready to dive even deeper, here is a round-up of the top online courses to take your knowledge of social impact to the next level (without the hefty university price tag!)

Edx.org

Edx offers free college courses from institutions like Berkeley, Harvard, and MIT. You can audit the classes for free, or for a fee, also earn a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Be sure to check out this list of courses hosted on Edx to learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with courses like “The Challenges of Global Poverty” from MIT and “International Women’s Health and Human Rights” from Stanford.


Coursera.org

Coursera is another platform with online college classes in a variety of subjects. Coursera offers a number of free and paid course – you can see their most popular free courses here. Paid courses are available either on a subscription basis or for individual purchase costing between US$39-79 per month.

Courses cover a variety of topics like social entrepreneurship, leadership, and marketing & communication specifically for social enterprise. +Acumen offers a mix of free and paid courses, with great free options like “Human Centered Design 101: Prototyping” and “Storytelling for Change.”

Future Learn offers a variety of courses which you can access for free while they are running, or upgrade to access all courses at any time. Check out these courses related to sustainable development, social enterprise, and social entrepreneurship.


LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is an online educational platform that helps you discover and develop business, technology-related, and creative skills through expert-led course videos. You’ll find a variety of courses and bite-sized videos on topics including social enterprise, which you can try with a 1-month free trial. After the trial ends, a LinkedIn Learning subscription costs USD$29.99/month for access to over 13,000 courses.


The Unschool of Disruptive Design

The Unschool of Disruptive Design is a global experimental knowledge lab for change agents who want to help build a world that works for all of us. Unschool offers a limited number of free courses on topics like the circular economy, and a wide variety of paid content ranging from $15 to $100 per course.


Social Enterprise Institute

The Social Enterprise Institute brings all the inspiration, knowledge and tools you will need to solve community and environmental problems. Individual courses start around USD$70, and course bundles are available around different topics.


Springboard

Springboard offers a number of free and paid learning paths on a variety of subjects, from data science to social entrepreneurship. Check out their free social entrepreneurship course for a robust introduction to #socent, including 17+ hours of lectures and 22 resources.
